The Lorax

Synopsis: The Once-ler tells the tale of how his enthusiasm for capitalism destroyed the resources that he used despite the pleads and warnings of the Lorax the guardian of the trees and the animals that lived around it.

Connections with Science:
I) The book could be used to start a conversation of the anthropological effects on our environment that lead to the displacement of indigenous people. For example the placement of the North American Native Population to reserves. The migration of people from low lands because of the rising of the sea do to the melting of the polar ice caps.

II) Talk about the stewardship and influence of consumers to change detrimental industrial practices.
