Why Mosquitoes Buzz in People's Ears

Author: Verna Aardema
Art: Leo & Diane Dillon

Synopsis: This tale could be broken into two parts. The first is the propagation of one problem becoming a big problem as it follows the causal relationships that start with irritations of a mosquito. In the end, the effects are deadly for an owlet and in turn the sun doesn't rise. In the second part, the powerful lion leads the investigation into how the sun stopped rising in a fashion similar to the song head, shoulders knees and toes. In the end the mosquito is blamed and he runs away to buzz in the ear of a human that treats him justly.

Connections to Science:
I) This book could be used to teach causation.

II) To introduce many African animals.
